Employment System Review – Systemic racism barrier identification and removal process

Building an Inclusive Workplace: Dismantling Systemic Racism in Your Employment System

Participants will be able to apply the organizational self-assessment methodology by using the Six Cylinder Framework to analyze their organization framework from an Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Anti-racism lens. The program focuses on 6 key areas:

  • Leadership: What messages are leaders sending to their staff and external stakeholders about diversity? Are the messages consistent? Do the leaders share a common vision about what diversity, inclusion, and cultural competence can do for the organization?
  • Services/Programs: IDEA must be integrated into new and existing programs and services to address the needs of a changing population.
  • Human Capital (Hiring/Staffing/Contracting): Hiring managers must revise their practices to recruit the best person for the job, not just the best person in their network, or the candidate with whom they feel most comfortable.
  • The Workplace Environment: Workplace policies and behaviors (the “culture”) can nurture IDEA or quash it.
  • Stakeholder Connections: How well does the organization know its community? Where does the organization make its community investments? Does the community know, trust, and respect the organization
  • Marketing/Communications: How an organization communicates – and where – helps to establish its public image and can signal to potential supporters, clients, and organizational partners whether the organization values IDEA.
